Pin Icon San Francisco, CA

With more than 14 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, Kourtney Nelson brings her passion for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers to 3Degrees. In her new role as Director of Renewable Energy Procurement, Kourtney will work with businesses, government entities and universities to meet greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals and satisfy corporate sustainability ambitions with clean energy.

“The C&I segment has enormous potential when it comes to combating climate change,” says Kourtney. “Their purchases of utility scale renewable energy, whether through physical or virtual market mechanisms, will reduce GHG emissions, save money, and mitigate risk, plus bring much needed attention to this critical issue.”

Kourtney chose to work with 3Degrees based on her experience working with the company as a supplier and appreciates 3Degrees’ clear focus on providing “best fit” renewable options for customers. “Clean energy is not a one size fits all endeavor. I look forward to working with our team to design new products and build renewable energy portfolios tailored to meet each client’s sustainability and financial goals, while balancing for risk.”

Kourtney has experience across all aspects of the energy market with expertise negotiating utility scale wind and solar power purchase agreements (PPAs & VPPAs), managing renewable energy certificates (RECs) and navigating the risks of the wholesale energy market.

“We’re thrilled to have Kourtney on our 3Degrees team; she understands the market’s complexity like no one else and can help us develop new products and structures that meet our clients’ needs for additionality, cost savings and GHG reduction,” said 3Degrees vice president of renewable energy procurement Kim Fiske, citing Kourtney’s deep negotiation skills and energy market experience.

Kourtney is based out of 3Degrees Portland office, where as President of City Club of Portland and the former secretary of the Portland chapter of the Women of Wind Energy,  she already has strong ties in the industry and the larger business community.
