About This Product

Nearly every region of Kenya and Uganda is considered biomass-deficient due to significant harvesting for cooking and other purposes. The BioLite Improved Cookstoves Program is helping to address biomass deficiency one household at a time. A typical family in this region uses a three stone fire or other traditional cooking method, which relies on inefficient uses of biomass fuel. In contrast, BioLite cookstoves are ultra-clean burning wood or charcoal stoves that reduce fuel use by 50%, and cut toxic pollutants by up to 90%. Due to the added fuel efficiency, surrounding forests are significantly less affected, protecting ecosystems and local wildlife habitats.
