SAN FRANCISCO, January 27, 2025 – 3Degrees, a leading global climate solutions provider, announced today the promotion of three executives to new leadership roles, strengthening the company’s position to accelerate its global expansion.
Suzanne Kling has been appointed Chief People Officer after serving as Vice President, People Operations for the past eight years. Kling has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s people strategy and driving its transformation into a global workforce. Under her leadership, 3Degrees has grown its team by over 300%, hiring talent across 32 states, nine countries, and multiple regions, including Europe and Asia. She has championed a culture that reflects the company’s global reach while preserving 3Degrees’ mission-driven values. As a trusted strategic partner to 3Degrees’ executive team, she has driven initiatives that focus on inclusivity, engagement, career development, and learning opportunities, ensuring the company remains a leader in attracting and retaining top talent.
“I am thrilled to have Suzanne step into the role of Chief People Officer,” said Steve McDougal, CEO of 3Degrees. “She has been a valued leader and a highly-trusted partner of mine during this period of rapid growth and change. As 3Degrees continues to evolve and our business needs expand, now is the right time to create our first-ever Chief People Officer position, and promote Suzanne into the role as she and her team continue to support the company and our global employee base through this next phase of growth.”
3Degrees is also creating two new Senior Vice President roles.
Scott Martin has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Global Commercial Business. Martin joined 3Degrees eight years ago as Vice President of the Commercial Business when the sales organization had only four team members. During his tenure, Martin has built a global sales, strategy, and power markets team, driven a 500% increase in the company’s customer base, and helped expand 3Degrees’ suite of commercial business solutions across Europe and Asia-Pacific, particularly within the food and beverage, consumer goods, technology, and heavy industry sectors. This expansion has accelerated the company’s customers’ ability to meet their global decarbonization goals.
“In the eight years since Scott joined 3Degrees, the company has experienced transformative growth,” said McDougal. “He has been a driving force behind our global market expansion and our enhanced suite of climate products and technology solutions, all of which enable us to deliver best-in-class service to our clients. As we look ahead, Scott’s visionary leadership is going to be instrumental to achieving 3Degrees’ strategic growth objectives, and I’m excited to see his continued positive impact in this new role.”
Amanda Mortlock has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Utility Partnerships. Mortlock has been with 3Degrees since its inception, having joined in 2004 when it was still a part of 3 Phases Energy (3Degrees was officially founded in 2007). Throughout her 20-year tenure, she has served in numerous roles, most recently as Vice President, Utility Partnerships. Mortlock oversees our foundational utility partnerships business, where she leads a 50+ person team that helps bring climate solutions to utility customers at scale.
“It is impossible for me to think about 3Degrees without thinking about Amanda,” added McDougal. “She has quite literally been with us – myself and co-founder Dan Kalafatas – since the beginning. This kind of dedication is extremely rare these days. In her decades with the company, Amanda has made an impact on so many aspects of our company, from strategy to operations to culture. She is an incredible asset to 3Degrees, and I’m thrilled to announce her well-deserved promotion to Senior Vice President.”
