The road to meeting your climate target

Demonstrate a commitment to climate action by setting a credible, science-based emissions reduction target

We are in a race against time to take meaningful action on climate change. Our goal is clear: achieve global net zero emissions by 2050 and limit global warming to 1.5°C. This urgency is driving organizations around the world to accelerate their decarbonization plans and set climate targets, like net zero, guided by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi)

At 3Degrees, we understand that there is not just one pathway to achieve climate goals, nor is the same target and timeline right for every organization. Let’s work together to understand your organization’s specific objectives and create a climate goal that’s unique to you.

What is net zero?

At its core, the concept of “net zero” means a balance between what we emit into the atmosphere and what we take out. Net zero emissions are achieved when greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the atmosphere that are caused or influenced by people are balanced by removals over a specified period, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which also states that this balance needs to happen by 2050 on a global basis.

Corporations can and must play a vital role in achieving a net zero world. Your organization could set a goal of net zero by 2050, or set interim targets in line with science such as committing to be 100% renewable by 2030 or halving emissions by 2035. Any of these options represent critical steps in the fight against climate change.
