Amy Wierenga brings over 20 years of global private and public financial sector experience in risk management, portfolio management, capital allocation, quantitative research, treasury management and investment operations.

Amy is Head of Financial and Model Risk at PNC, where she leads the bank’s Chief Credit Officer, Chief Market Risk Officer and Chief Model Risk Officer organizations. 

Amy joined PNC from GCM Grosvenor, a $75BN global alternative asset manager that invests across absolute return, credit, private equity, infrastructure, and real estate markets. In her role at GCM Grosvenor, Amy led global risk strategy, oversight, quantitative modeling, and research to enhance underwriting, portfolio construction, and portfolio management process and outcomes. She served as a member of GCM Grosvenor’s Absolute Return Strategies, Alternative Credit, Private Equity, Real Estate and Infrastructure Investment Committees.

Prior to joining GCM Grosvenor, Amy spent over a decade at BlueMountain Capital Management, where she was Partner, Chief Risk Officer, and Head of Risk & Portfolio Construction. Her leadership was instrumental to enabling BlueMountain’s growth into a $20BN global multi-strategy, multifund manager known for its integrity, collaborative rigor, and strong internal control culture. Before BlueMountain, she served at Merrill Lynch where she managed risk for one of the largest U.S. Government & Agency flow interest rate derivatives and exotics books on Wall Street. Amy started her career as a commissioned Bank Examiner and Risk Specialist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where she led and participated in regulatory assessments of credit and market risk at commercial banking organizations across the U.S.

In addition to her role as an independent Board Member of 3Degrees, Amy serves as Chair of the Butler University Endowment and Investment Committee and as President of the Society of Quantitative Analysts (SQA) Board of Directors. Amy received her Bachelor of Science in Economics and Bachelor of Arts in Music cum laude from Butler University and her Master of Business Administration in Analytic Finance, Econometrics & Statistics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Prior to joining ARB, Kathy was managing director with Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown’s investment banking group, a partner at Seven Hills LLC, and a managing director at FTV Capital.

She is an active member of Women Corporate Directors, a contributor to Great from the Start, How Conscious Corporations Attract Success and has a self-published photo book, Lost. Kathy is a long-time volunteer with the San Francisco SPCA’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program.
