Steve McDougal

Steve McDougal is the co-founder of 3Degrees and a member of the Board of Directors. After a highly successful run in strategic marketing at CNET Networks (now CBS Interactive), Steve decided to turn his talents to pursuing what he saw as an urgent issue: addressing climate change. In 2003, he joined 3 Phases Energy Services as the director of marketing and business development.

In partnership with Dan Kalafatas, Steve formed 3Degrees (previously part of 3 Phases) in 2007. For the next four years, he successfully led 3Degrees’ Retail REC and Carbon Offset group as the vice president of marketing and business development, becoming the company president in 2012 and CEO in 2015, a position he held for a decade until he decided to step away from leadership of the company in 2025. 

Outside of work, Steve enjoys biking, skiing, and learning to play piano. He also sits on the board of a mid-sized educational and environmental foundation.
