Amid the pressing need to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Foam Supplies, Inc. (FSI) is leading the way with its innovative Ecomate blowing agent (BA). Blowing agents are a key ingredient in the production of spray foam products used in everyday applications—from marine flotation devices to refrigeration units and building insulation. This cutting-edge technology transforms the production of polyurethane (PU) foam by replacing traditional high-GWP BAs with Ecomate.
Traditional BAs release GHG emissions during manufacturing, use, and end of life and have long been a hidden cause of significant GHG emissions. This proactive shift, deployed across 66 foam manufacturing facilities in North America, is revolutionizing the industry by going beyond national regulations.
Each tank and drum of Ecomate shipped and utilized represents a tangible step towards a healthier planet. The foam produced with this low-GWP BA not only meets the highest industry standards but does so while safeguarding our atmosphere. The project underscores the profound impact that improved foam technologies can have on reducing carbon emissions and promoting a sustainable future.
PROJECT TYPE: Industrial Processes (HFC Avoidance)
LOCATION: Missouri
VERIFICATION: American Carbon Registry (ACR)
RELATED SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS): This project contributes directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an urgent call for action by countries in global partnership to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
HFC avoidance projects provide substantial co-benefits
Improved foam technologies can have a large impact on reducing carbon emissions and beyond emissions reduction, these projects also provide valuable co-benefits to the surrounding environment and the community.
This project reduces greenhouse gas emissions by cutting down on high-GWP chemicals in foam production, contributing to climate change mitigation and a healthier planet.
Low-GWP blowing agents promote sustainable innovation in foam manufacturing, encouraging large and transnational companies to adopt eco-friendly practices.
